Obligations Of Husband And Wife, Dayyus, NusyuzAbstract
Marriage is a legal bond that legitimizes the relationship between a man and a woman. Every couple certainly expects the creation of a harmonious family, which in Islam is known as sakinah, mawaddah, and warahmah. To realize such a household, an understanding is needed between husband and wife regarding each other's rights and obligations. In general, the husband's obligation to his wife is divided into two, namely material and non-material obligations. Material obligations include the provision of dowry and maintenance, while non-material obligations include good association, good muamalah, and fair attitude. Meanwhile, the obligations of the wife after marriage become the rights of the husband, which are generally non-material, such as obeying the husband in good things. In contrast, the husband is responsible as the head of the family to meet the material needs in the household. However, in reality, there are wives who do not obey their husbands or behave nusyuz. On the other hand, there are also husbands who do not prevent their wives from committing immorality, which in Islam is called dayyus.
