Istri Mencari Nafkah Perspektif Fikih Munakahat dan Kompilasi Hukum Islam

Abstract

A valid marriage obligates the husband to provide for his wife and children, including food, clothing, shelter, children's education, and other secondary needs. However, when examined within society, there are certain factors that cause wives to become the breadwinners in their families. This reality is common in society. The research question in this study is: What is the legal status of a wife working to provide financial support, as viewed from the perspective of Islamic Family Law (Fikih Munakahat) and the Compilation of Islamic Law (Kompilasi Hukum Islam)? This research is a literature review (library research) with a normative approach. The data collection method used in this study is literature review. The results of this study indicate that, from both the perspective of Islamic Family Law and the Compilation of Islamic Law, there is no explicit prohibition against a wife working to earn a living as long as she can still fulfill her primary role as a housewife and does not violate existing norms and laws.
