Journal History
The Journal of Contemporary Indonesian Islam (JCII) was established in 2022 by the Postgraduate Program of UIN Sultanah Nahrasiyah Lhokseumawe, Aceh, Indonesia, as a peer-reviewed and open access journal.
JCII was founded to provide an academic platform for researchers, scholars, and practitioners to publish high-quality works in the field of Islamic studies and humanities, with a particular emphasis on contemporary issues and the dynamics of Indonesian Islam in a global context.
The journal is published twice a year, in June and December, both in print and online versions. Since its inception, JCII has applied a double-blind peer review process and adhered to international publication ethics standards (COPE).
Over the years, JCII has consistently aimed to:
-
Promote critical and interdisciplinary studies in Islamic thought, culture, law, history, and society.
-
Encourage scholarly exchange on contemporary issues of Islam in Indonesia and beyond.
-
Contribute to the advancement of Islamic studies at the national and international levels.
JCII continues to strengthen its editorial quality and visibility by engaging national and international scholars, and by striving towards indexing in reputable academic databases.
