Correction and Retraction
Genderang Asa: Journal of Primary Education, managed by the Journal House (Rumah Jurnal) of UIN Sultanah Nahrasiyah, is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. Where errors or ethical violations are identified in published articles, the journal will conduct an evaluation and take appropriate action based on the nature and seriousness of the issue and its impact on the validity and reliability of the article. This policy follows recognized principles of publication ethics, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), where applicable.
1. Correction
A correction is issued when an error is identified in a published article that needs to be rectified to maintain the accuracy of the scholarly information, but that does not invalidate the main findings or conclusions of the research as a whole. Such errors may include typographical errors or errors in information, tables, figures, author identity, affiliation, or other inaccuracies requiring formal correction.
Correction requests may be submitted by authors, readers, reviewers, or other parties with relevant evidence. Each request will be evaluated by the editorial team. If a correction is approved, the journal will publish a correction notice transparently and link it to the relevant article. Changes must not be made in a manner that erases the publication record or misleads readers.
2. Retraction
An article is retracted when there is strong evidence that it contains serious problems that undermine the reliability or integrity of the publication. Grounds for retraction may include data fabrication or falsification, substantial plagiarism, unjustified duplicate publication, fundamental errors that render the findings or conclusions unreliable, serious breaches of research ethics, or other violations meeting the criteria for retraction.
Retraction decisions are made by the editorial team following a careful and objective examination of the available evidence. Authors are given the opportunity to provide an explanation or response. Where necessary, the journal may seek the opinion of independent experts or contact the relevant institutions. Articles will not be retracted solely on the basis of objections or scholarly disagreements without sufficient evidence.
3. Correction and Retraction Procedure
The procedure for handling corrections and retractions includes:
1. Receipt of a report or identification of a problem in a published article.
2. Initial examination of the report and supporting evidence by the editorial team.
3. Request for clarification from the authors or relevant parties, where necessary.
4. Evaluation of the evidence and, if necessary, consultation with independent experts or relevant institutions.
5. Decision-making based on the findings and applicable publication ethics guidelines.
6. Publication of a correction or retraction notice that clearly and proportionately explains the reasons for the action.
While the investigation is ongoing, the journal may publish an expression of concern if there are indications of a serious problem that has not yet been resolved but about which readers need to be informed promptly.
4. Transparency and Access to Articles
Correction and retraction notices must be openly accessible and linked to the original article. For retracted articles, the journal will retain the publication record and clearly mark the article as retracted, together with the reason for retraction, the date, and other relevant information. Retracted articles are not removed from the publication archive unless legal reasons or special circumstances require different handling.
5. Responsibilities of Authors and the Editorial Team
Authors are responsible for promptly notifying the editor if they discover a significant error in their published article or become aware of an ethical violation related to it. Authors must cooperate in the clarification process and provide accurate information.
The editorial team is responsible for handling every report fairly, objectively, and confidentially throughout the review process. Decisions must be based on sufficient evidence, take into account the right of reply of all parties, and remain free from personal, institutional, or commercial interests.
6. Commitment to Publication Integrity
Journal Genderang Asa applies its correction and retraction policy to protect readers, authors, the academic community, and the public from inaccurate or unreliable scholarly information. Every action is taken proportionately, transparently, and in accordance with the principles of academic integrity and publication ethics.
Through this policy, Jurnal Genderang Asa, under the management of the Journal House (Rumah Jurnal) of UIN Sultanah Nahrasiyah, is committed to maintaining the credibility of its publications, ensuring accountability for every editorial decision, and preserving the academic community’s trust in the published scholarly record.
