Electronic Filing (Archiving)

Saree: Research in Gender Studies is committed to keeping its published scholarship permanently available, intact, and usable. To protect its content against loss from technical failure, human error, platform changes, or the discontinuation of the journal, JETLEE uses several independent preservation measures rather than relying on a single system.

Scope of Preservation

SAREE’s preservation arrangements apply to:

1. the final published files of all articles;
2. any supplementary materials published with those articles;
3. bibliographic metadata at the article and issue level;
4. editorial information needed to keep the scholarly record complete, such as publication dates and editorial board records; and
5. post-publication notices, including corrections, expressions of concern, and retractions.

SAREE is published on Open Journal Systems (OJS) and participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). Through this service, published content is automatically deposited across a network of preservation servers located in different institutions and countries. If the journal’s own website becomes unavailable, these distributed copies allow the content to be recovered and made accessible again.

Backup and Recovery

The journal’s database, published files, and other digital content are backed up regularly as part of its server maintenance. Backups are stored securely and kept separate from the live journal system, so that a single failure cannot destroy both the original and its copies.

Persistent Identifiers and Metadata

Every article published in SAREE receives a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) registered with Crossref DOI prefix: https://doi.org/10.47766/saree. The journal also supplies article metadata to the indexing and discovery services in which it is listed, so that each article can be found and cited reliably. If the journal changes its website address or publishing platform, JETLEE will update the destination of every DOI so that existing citations and links continue to lead readers to the correct article.

File Formats and Platform Migration

JETLEE publishes articles and metadata in widely supported, standard formats [PDF] that is likely to remain readable in the long term. If a format, software, or platform becomes obsolete, the journal will transfer its content to a current, supported format while making sure that the text, data, and context of each article are fully preserved. Before and after any system upgrade or migration, the journal will make complete backups, check that article files and metadata have transferred correctly, and confirm that all DOIs and publication records still work.

Self-Archiving and Additional Copies

Because SAREE articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, authors are free to deposit and share the published version of their work, with no embargo, in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, and other scholarly platforms.

Libraries and repositories may also keep copies of SAREE content for preservation purposes, provided that each copy clearly identifies the authors, the article’s DOI, the journal, and the license under which it was published.

SAREE reviews this policy and its preservation arrangements periodically to keep pace with changes in technology, infrastructure, and scholarly publishing standards.
