Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of management based on Islamic values and Malay local wisdom in enhancing students' character at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation as data collection methods. The findings reveal that Islamic values such as trustworthiness, justice, and responsibility, along with Malay cultural values such as politeness, mutual cooperation, and respect for elders and teachers are synergistically integrated into madrasah policies and programs. These values are implemented through visionary leadership, habituation in learning activities, and active collaboration with the surrounding community. Furthermore, the madrasahdemonstrates the capacity to address internal and external challenges through innovation and cross-sector collaboration. The study concludes that a managerial approach combining Islamic values and local culture is effective in holistically and contextually shaping students' character. This model is therefore relevant as a reference for developing character education management in other madrasahs.
