LITERATUR: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the Indonesian Tadris Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Sultanah Nahrasiyah Lhokseumawe. The journal is committed to publishing original, high-quality, and ethically sound scholarship in language and literature. The following policies govern the editorial process of the journal and apply to all authors, reviewers, and editors. Detailed information on each policy is available on its respective page.
The journal publishes scholarly work in the field of language and literature, with particular attention to Indonesian and regional languages and literature, linguistic and literary studies, and language and literature learning. The journal welcomes diverse theoretical and methodological approaches, including interdisciplinary studies that connect language and literature with culture, education, and society. Manuscripts that are not related to language or literature studies fall outside the scope of the journal.
The journal accepts original research articles, conceptual articles, and review articles, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses. All articles are published in English and must be prepared using the official journal template.
The journal is published twice a year, in June and December. Starting from Volume 7, each issue publishes 10 articles.
All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS). Manuscripts sent through email or other unofficial channels will not be processed. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal.
Every manuscript undergoes initial editorial screening, followed by double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers with relevant expertise from various institutions in Indonesia and abroad. Reviewers assess the substance of the manuscript as well as its presentation and writing style. Reviewer recommendations are advisory, and the final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the handling editor. The journal aims to complete the first round of review within four to eight weeks after a manuscript is assigned to reviewers. The entire review process is conducted and documented through OJS.
An author is anyone who has made a substantial contribution to the conception, design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of the research; has drafted or critically revised the manuscript; has approved the final version to be published; and agrees to be accountable for all aspects of the work. Contributors who do not meet these criteria are recognized in the Acknowledgements section. Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be accompanied by a written explanation and a signed statement of agreement from all listed authors, including the author being added or removed.
Authors must disclose any use of AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of their manuscripts: use for writing assistance, language editing, or translation in the Acknowledgements section, and use for data collection, analysis, or figure generation in the Research Method section. AI cannot be listed or cited as an author. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content. Reviewers and editors must not upload manuscripts or review materials to generative AI platforms that do not guarantee confidentiality.
All manuscripts are checked for similarity using Turnitin before peer review. The maximum similarity index is 20%. Manuscripts exceeding this limit will be returned to the authors or declined without review, and manuscripts found to involve plagiarism or self-plagiarism will be rejected.
Citations and references must follow APA Style (7th Edition) and be prepared using a reference management application such as Mendeley or Zotero. At least 80% of the references must be primary sources, such as journal articles, proceedings, and research reports, and at least 80% must have been published within the last 10 years.
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, personal, academic, institutional, or other relationship that could influence, or be perceived to influence, their judgment. Editors and reviewers with a conflict of interest must withdraw from handling the manuscript. Manuscripts submitted by editors or editorial board members are handled by an independent editor and undergo the same review process as all other submissions.
The journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Allegations of research or publication misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, citation manipulation, peer-review manipulation, and authorship misconduct, are handled fairly, confidentially, and proportionately. Reports can be sent to [email protected].
Published articles are never changed silently. Any change is made through a formal notice, namely a correction, an expression of concern, a retraction, or, in rare cases, a removal, in accordance with the COPE Retraction Guidelines.
Readers may respond to published articles by submitting a letter to the editor or a short commentary. Contributions must be scholarly, respectful, and evidence-based. Concerns about errors or possible misconduct should be sent directly to the editor.
Authors retain copyright of their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).
The journal provides immediate open access to all published articles, in the belief that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
