Manuscript Type

LITERATUR: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra welcomes original scholarly manuscripts that advance knowledge, theory, and practice in Indonesian language and literature and their education. All submissions must fall within the journal’s focus and scope and meet accepted standards of academic writing, research integrity, and publication ethics. Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or a foreign language.

1. Original Research Articles

Original research articles report the findings of previously unpublished studies that make a meaningful contribution to the understanding of language, literature, or language and literature education.

The journal accepts quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, descriptive, experimental, classroom action, and applied research, as well as linguistic and literary studies based on textual, corpus, or field data, provided they are relevant to the journal’s scope.

Manuscripts should be organized systematically and include an Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References. Studies involving human participants, such as students, teachers, informants, or speech communities, must follow research ethics standards and obtain the necessary permissions or informed consent in accordance with institutional requirements.

2. Conceptual Articles

Conceptual articles present original ideas, theoretical arguments, or critical perspectives on issues in language, literature, or language and literature education. Such articles must be grounded in relevant scholarly literature, develop a clear and coherent line of argument, and offer new insights or implications for theory, research, or teaching practice.

3. Review Articles

Review articles provide a comprehensive synthesis and critical analysis of published scholarly literature in order to deepen understanding of a topic, identify research gaps, and recommend directions for future research and educational practice.

The journal accepts the following types of review articles:

Systematic Review: A literature review that addresses a clearly defined research question using a transparent search strategy, explicitly stated eligibility criteria, and a systematic method for synthesizing evidence.

Meta-analysis: A quantitative synthesis that combines the results of several comparable studies using appropriate statistical methods.

Every review article must state its objectives, literature search strategy, study selection criteria, synthesis method, and scholarly contribution. Systematic reviews should follow an appropriate reporting guideline, particularly the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA 2020). Meta-analyses must apply suitable statistical methods and report their results transparently.

4. General Requirements for Manuscripts

All submitted manuscripts must:

  1. Fall within the focus and scope of the journal, namely Indonesian language and literature and their education.
  2. Be original work, free from plagiarism, and not under review or published elsewhere.
  3. Follow the journal’s manuscript template, citation style, and author guidelines.
