Peer Review Process

Pase: Journal of Contemporary Islamic Education applies a peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of all manuscripts considered for publication. All submitted manuscripts undergo editorial screening and peer review before a final publication decision is made.

1. Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, the editorial team examines each manuscript to assess its alignment with the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, originality, and basic academic quality. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements or fall outside its scope may be rejected without external review.

2. Peer Review Method

The journal uses a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process. Authors must ensure that their manuscripts do not contain identifying information that could compromise the anonymity of the review.

Each manuscript that passes the initial screening is normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area.

3. Review Criteria

Reviewers assess manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the journal's focus and scope.

  • Originality and contribution to scholarly knowledge.

  • Clarity of research objectives and problem formulation.

  • Appropriateness of the research methods and analytical approach.

  • Accuracy and adequacy of data analysis, arguments, and interpretations.

  • Quality of references and engagement with relevant literature.

  • Clarity of presentation, structure, and academic language.

  • Compliance with research ethics and publication standards.

4. Editorial Decisions

Based on reviewers' recommendations and the editor's independent assessment, the editorial team may decide to:

  1. Accept the manuscript without revision.

  2. Accept the manuscript subject to minor revisions.

  3. Require major revisions and further evaluation.

  4. Reject the manuscript.

Reviewers provide recommendations, while the final decision rests with the editor. A revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers for further assessment when necessary. Revision does not guarantee acceptance.

5. Review Duration

The duration of the review process may vary depending on the manuscript's subject, reviewer availability, and the extent of revisions required. The editorial team endeavors to conduct the process efficiently while maintaining the quality and fairness of the evaluation.

6. Confidentiality and Ethical Standards

All manuscripts and review reports are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based assessments and disclose any potential conflicts of interest. Manuscripts must not be used for personal advantage or shared with unauthorized parties.

The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, fabricated or falsified research data, manipulation of the peer-review process, or other forms of research and publication misconduct.

7. Appeals and Complaints

Authors who wish to appeal an editorial decision may submit a written appeal to the editorial office, explaining the grounds for the appeal and providing relevant supporting evidence. Appeals and complaints will be handled fairly and confidentially in accordance with the journal's Complaints and Appeals Policy.

8. Final Publication Decision

A manuscript will be accepted for publication only after it has satisfied the journal's editorial requirements and, where applicable, completed the required revisions. The editor retains responsibility for the final publication decision to ensure that all published articles meet the journal's academic and ethical standards.
